Frequently Asked Questions

What are flower essences and how do they work?

Flower essences are the vibrational imprint of flowers transferred to water and preserved in brandy. They are a natural source for targeted emotional healing.
Every flower on the earth has a signature frequency that it resonates at, and consequently, so does every emotion. Negative, or low frequency emotions will dissolve and yield when a higher, corresponding frequency is introduced. Because water is a perfect carrier and recorder of frequency, and the body is about 80% water, you can shift every cell in your body into a more balanced state. Because of this reality, essences can become a key for effortless, emotional healing. We can get as specific as the expectation of rejection being self-fulfilling, and as broad as procrastination to PTSD.
Flower essences do not influence the body directly, but can bring change to the degree an issue is emotionally rooted. Studies have found that upwards of 85% of disease is emotional in origin. If we can heal the heart, the body can follow.

How do you use them?

It's as easy as putting 4 drops into whatever you are drinking. Even easier if you put the drops in a larger container and draw from that. Some prefer to take drops directly in the mouth and some prefer to use them externally on pulse points. You can add essences to a diffuser or humidifier, but note that it will effect everyone in the room.
How long do you take them?

That will vary. Though they take effect immediately, most issues take 3 to 4 weeks to notice significant change. About the same amount of time to learn a new habit. For deeper-rooted issues, a series of blends might be in order. As far as resolving long-term issues, the general rule is one month for every year you have dealt with the problem.
Are they safe? Can you take too much?
Yes, they are safe in that there are no contraindications. There is no biochemical component so they will not interfere with medications, pregnancy, allergies, etc. You can't "overdose", but taking too much too soon can put you into a healing crisis. A healing crisis means too many realizations coming at once and too much to process being required. This can just be uncomfortable, and you may just need to scale back.
How do you know they are working?
Most people find that things that used to trigger an emotional response no longer bother them. A sense of peace settles in to where many can't hardly imagine responding in the old way anymore. This usually accompanies eased tension in the body, significant dreams, bright outlook and a balanced perspective. Without the emotional energy clouding your perception, you can now see things for what they really are. This can allow revelation to surface. Looking back on traumatic events is no longer painful so that closure is possible. Usually, those around you will notice changes in you before you even do!
Are these the same thing as essential oils?

No. Flower Essences are vibrational and only utilize the flowering part of the plant to target emotions. There is no plant material used in the end-product. Oils are biochemical and are basically the blood of the plant. You can extract oil from any part. Oils directly influence the body chemically, while essences can influence the body to the degree an issue is emotionally rooted. Oils are extremely concentrated and smell strongly, essences have no scent and only have a mild flavor due to containing a small amount of brandy. They are very different but can compliment each other.
Can I take more than one blend at a time?
While there are no rules, the general rule of thumb is no more than 7 flowers at a time. With most blends containing 6-7 flowers, that puts you at the limit with one. That being said, once you feel stabilized and have a good grasp on a current blend, you can begin to alternate blends, or use alternate ones at different times of day. Everyone is different so experiment away! You cannot harm yourself, but understand taking multiple blends together can potentially lead to either a healing crisis or your system overloading and not responding at all. Others do great and it accelerates their breakthrough. This will be something you will have to experiment with on your own.

Blends that are complimentary are safer to alternate. An example would be Heart Mend and Sweet Sorrow. They share a few of the same flowers and work well together. The suggestion would be to take them at least 30 minutes apart. Another option would be to use a daytime and nighttime blend at opposite ends of the day. Most long term users find it best to stick to one main blend, and use a second blend only for acute situations.
Why is there brandy?
Brandy is the traditionally used preservative in making Flower Essences and other forms of herbalism. It extends the shelf life of your bottle indefinitely as long as contaminants stay out. For those who are concerned about alcohol intake, understand that the entire bottle is diluted by half, and you are only using a few drops at a time. If you are dead set on not using brandy as a preservative, you can purchase a Custom Refill Blend, indicate the remedy you want in the notes and specify that you want a vinegar base instead.
